CAT Invader Sport Work Shoes: The Rundown

CAT Invader Sport Work Shoes

Key Features

  • Composite toe
  • Breathable mesh upper
  • Abrasion-resistant overlays
  • EVA midsole
  • Slip-resistant outsole

CAT built the Invader Sport work shoes to be lightweight while still standing up to tough jobsite conditions. In fact, the brand tells us that these shoes are their lightest work shoes to date. This is helped by a composite safety toe, which is lighter than steel or aluminum while providing plenty of protection for your toes.

Despite their lightweight design, these work shoes don’t skimp on durability. They feature a mesh upper with reinforced high-wear areas for extra toughness. The outsoles are inspired by the tires on CAT machinery, providing secure traction on a variety of terrains.

These mesh shoes weigh just 2.2 pounds for the pair, meaning each shoe weighs just over 1 pound. You can also find the Invader Sport shoes in suede, which carry a tad more weight than the mesh version, at 2.65 pounds for the pair.

Finally, for comfort, these shoes are equipped with a soft foam footbed to help manage foot fatigue on all-day jobs.

CAT Invader Sport Work Shoes Price

These shoes retail for $109.95. You can choose a width of M (regular) or W (wide), and they’re available in men’s sizes 7 to 14, with half-sizes from 7.5 to 11.5.

CAT offers two colorways for this shoe: Black and Gargoyle (grey).

The Invader Sport shoes also come in two suede colorways: Black and Coffee Bean. This style retails for $114.95.

Should You Buy Them?

The CAT Invader Sport work shoes are very reminiscent of a sneaker in design. Some tradesmen prefer this build over standard work boots since they’re less restrictive and allow for more movement.

The trade-off is that with these shoes’ low-top design, you’re not getting as much ankle protection as you would with a taller boot. However, at just over $100, these shoes offer a good value if you’re looking for something a bit more versatile than a bulky work boot.

Usually, work shoes are confined to warehouses or similar work environments. However, the aggressive tread pattern on these makes them more multi-surface friendly, and those of you in landscaping/lawn care or who can get away with a light-duty safety shoe may enjoy their lightweight comfort.
